How to Fight Corruption Effictively

How to Fight Corruption

Corruption is big news today. A lot is being written and said about corruption.

Why is Bribery and Corruption Flourishing in India

Bribery and corruption (including similar activities in the private sector) are flourishing in India because the public is not only tolerating, but also encouraging, such activities.
People readily pay bribes to get work done….even if the work is totally illegal.
Parents seek prospective candidates for marriage with their children with an eye on the money they will make in future.
Worse, there is no stigma attached to illegal earnings.

How do you fight Bribery and Corruption

We already have several laws to fight all these……
We have a judiciary any democratic country can be proud of.
I personally believe that a new Lok Pal will only add one more layer of bureaucracy, a lot of expenditure, which we can hardly afford, and consequential corruption.

So how do we tackle the bribery and corruption?

  • First…don’t pay bribe.
  • Secondly, in case of government officials or public servants, file a complaint with the concerned Anti Corruption Department, and get the culprit arrested or caught red handed, while taking bribe.

Devrao Bawane, Deputy Commissioner of Sales Tax Jailed

For those who disbelieve in the efficacy of the existing laws, I am attached a news paper cutting of today to show how effective our laws are.

Devrao Bawane, Deputy Commissioner of Sales Tax and his inspector have been sentenced  to 5 years rigorous imprisonment for taking bribe of Rs. 1 lakh in 2009.
And what has not been mentioned is that they will also lose their retirement benefits.

Sir, surely, we have a judiciary. But, only lawyers like Subramanyam swamy can have their say heard. Mine & your views will always dumped in garbage. To fight corruption, U need to take multiple Avataars.Gandhiji could fight britishers. But, if he happens to take re-birth now, I doubt whether he will be worshipped anymore OR the Italian origin Gandhis will be worshipped ?

Good. I feel the best way is to make citizens supreme and all other details are incidental.
Why people take the route of corruption is because to get what is right for the citizen are made complicated by the rules and regulations & laws.We are still not having any citizenship card. Vote bank politics are there and outsiders have votes.

IN THE CONSTITUTION MAKE INDIAN CITIZEN SUPREME & THE RIGHT OF CITIZENSHIP AND BENEFITS SHALL BE DIMINISHED WHEN SIMPLE RULES AND LAWS OF LAND ARE VIOLATED.
SAY IF ANY ACT IN CONTRAVENTION OF SOVEREIGN DEMOCRATIC INDIA IS VIOLATED ONE LOOSES ONES CITIZENSHIP FOR A CERTAIN PERIOD SAY IF CONVICTED BY SUPREME COURT.

THERE ARE HUGE PENDING CASES ALL OVER IN INDIAN COURTS AND IT MAY TAKE MORE THAN 200 YEARS IF THESE ARE TO REACH LOGICAL CONCLUSIONS.

SELF REGULATION AND CONTROL IS ONLY WAY AND THE RULES AND LAWS SHOULD BE IN THAT DIRECTION. FOR A CHANGE WE NEED A REVOLUTION OF SORT.

    THANKS.

    Sir,
If we go to the Govt. Officers like BMC,PF,IT,Sales Tax etc., they will not help you to solve your problems but they will increase your problems by making the things more complicated so that you have to pay something so that your work is done.
Otherwise you have to cut chakkers to this Offices regularly. So we have to develop a system which will solve this Problems.

The blog by Dr. Binoy Gupta, is a eye-opener, more so when a live example of an officer of the Sales Tax Dept., being jailed for full FIVE years. This itself is great enough, though it remains to be seen whether it has any effect on the other officers of the Sales Tax Dept and whether they have stopped taking bribes.

Complaints against bribe demands and corruption should be popularised just like the RTI is used by the mass public. More exposure of corruptions, will instill confidence in the public and more people will come forward to the Anti Corruption Bureau.

  7. Regarding ‘Corruption / Bribery” – in our country nothing will happen against. Things are going on in the same way of enlarging corruption for getting one;s to be done by a Public Servant or a Private Body. I am totally upset and sometimes, as an odd man out, I feel like hanging myself for an end of life……..!!! seriously I mean. I have written / sent email about bribe / corruption against a Builder and a Society in collusion therewith, but nothing has happened. The Builders Lobby as far as corruption / bribery is concerned, it is SO STRONG, STRONG……I have conveyed this not to support but to put an end for corruption. For further feed back, if interested, please acknowledge my mail and will follow up……Sir. Thanks and regards,
